Manager Wound Care Services

Hi, My name is Julie Schmitt. I am a nurse practitioner currently working for Optum in the Senior Care Community providing primary care to the geriatric LTC population. I graduated from PLU with my DNP in 2024. I have been a certified wound ostomy nurse for greater 20 years working in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Prior to working for Optum, I was the manager of the outpatient wound center at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and managed the regional inpatient Wound Ostomy Program for the six Saint Hospitals in the region. I love gardening, playing with my chickens and dogs, enjoying spending time with my 5 kids and 4 grandkids. My dream is to own some acreage with a small farm where I can spend my days with animals, crafting, growing my own food and making sourdough bread. I plan to run my 4th full marathon in May 2026 for my 57th birthday to raise money for World Vision.
